Haney vs. Garcia live stream results: Despite an embarrassing scale fail from the challenger at Friday’s official weigh ins (more on that here), Devin Haney will still fight Ryan Garcia in a super lightweight non-title fight TONIGHT (Sat., April 20, 2024) on DAZN pay-per-view (order here) from inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Haney is the enormous favorite, in no small part due to his amazing ring skills and win streak, but also his strength of schedule, one that includes victories over some big names like George Kambosos (twice), Vasyl Lomachenko and Regis Prograis.

The “Haney vs. Garcia” event kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on DAZN PPV (order here) with main event ring walks taking place at approximately 11 p.m. ET.

It’s hard to write about Garcia and stick to just his athletic accomplishments. He’s a boxer with a 24-1 record and 20 of those wins have been knockouts. He’s 25 years old and is just starting to enter the prime of his career.

Outside of the ring, he kicked his manager/promoter out of his locker room before a fight. He divorced his wife as she was giving birth to their kid. He’s admitted to consumption of alcohol and marijuana while denying cocaine usage, but then put up a social media post wondering that if both he and Jon Jones were co*ked out, who would win in a fight. He had to put out a video explaining that he was actually alive, just that someone took his phone and his credit cards. In his own words, “I’m not dead, I believe in Jesus, all those are lies.”

HANEY VS. GARCIA LIVE PLAY-BY-PLAY:

Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia:

Round 1: Haney in brown, Garcia in white. Garcia on the front foot early being aggressive. Garcia with a big left early that rocks Haney. Haney clinches. Garcia to the body and again upstairs with a left. Garcia hits the back of the head and the ref breaks it up with a warning. Haney seems to have recovered a little. He’s in the middle now, popping a jab repeatedly. Lots of jabs, as Garcia has taken his foot off the gas.

10-9 Garcia

Round 2: Another rabbit punch warning to Garcia. Haney with a left-right combo. Garcia misses a pair of counter left attempts. Haney with a right. 1-2 again by Haney.

Haney 10-9, 19-19

Round 3: Haney with a right over the shoulder of Garcia. Clinch and a break. Haney ducks down and comes up with a right. Haney backs up Garcia with a pair of sharp jabs. Great shovel hook wobbles Garcia momentarily.

10-9 Haney, 29-28 Haney

Round 4: Haney with a pair of nice left hooks. They clinch and won’t let go, and the ref warns them both. Right by Garcia. Haney controlling the ring, and Garcia is just evading Haney’s attempts to corner him

10-9 Haney, 39-37 Haney

Round 5: Garcia tries a 3-piece, but it didn’t look like anything landed clean. Haney with a counter right, but it appeared to hit mostly shoulder. Garcia hits a decent right, Haney lands a bit of bodywork as they clinch. Haney with a glancing left.

10-9 Garcia in a very close round, 48-47 Haney

Round 6: Garcia gets in another decent right, but it wasn’t quite as damaging as the one in the first round. Might have been the timing or angle, or it might be his conditioning waning. Garcia tried to shoulder roll and Haney took advantage to pound on the ribs. The ref thought one or more was to the back and broke it up with a warning. Garcia flurries off the ropes.

10-9 Garcia, 57-57

Round 7: Haney leaps in with a right hand. Oh, there’s a huge left hand and down goes Haney! He’s very wobbly! Haney trying to clinch desperately! The ref calls time and takes a point from Garcia for a shot after he calls them to break up. There’s a right hand and Haney stumbles forward! Ref calls it a slip, and we’re back up, Garcia flying in and another big punch by Garcia! Haney is stumbling and down. Again, it’s not called a knockdown. Garcia takes the rest of the round off after the clapper.

9-8 Garcia, 66-65 Garcia

Round 8: Garcia still surging forward and lands a fair right. Garcia is covering up here and there, and letting Haney swing uncontested. Haney with a left and clinch. Haney looks like he may have recovered as Garcia’s let him off the hook a bit. Haney has blood coming from his mouth. He’s punching coming forward and has for the better part of this round.

10-9 Haney, 75-75

Round 9: Piston jab by Haney. There’s a cross, too. Clinch and body work by Haney. Nearly every punch is followed by a clinch and it looks like it’s annoying Garcia. Both men get lefts in. Nice uppercut by Garcia. Garcia shoulder rolls and nearly turns his back, so Haney rips four right hands to the ribs.

10-9 Haney in a close round, 85-84 Haney

Round 10: Garcia with a shovel left, mostly hits gloves. Then he gets in a right hand that works pretty well. Now Garcia flurries and drops Haney with a nice combo! Haney is back up. Haney gets ahold of Ryan and the ref warns them both for holding. They clinch and Garcia nearly turns his back as Haney hits the body. Big left by Garcia that staggers Haney back! He’s doing a good job clinching to stifle the shots, but in the open, he’s getting hit clean every now and then with the big power. The rest of the round ends uneventfully.

10-8 Garcia, 94-93 Garcia

Round 11: Looping shot from Garcia. Garcia keeps turning his back with his shoulder roll and getting warned by the ref. Left hook to the ear of Haney. Haney eats a right, too, then a huge left plants him on his butt seconds later. Third knockdown, but his recovery is surprisingly good and he looks OK a few moments later.

10-8 Garcia, 104-101 Garcia

Round 12: They flurry into a clinch. Garcia doesn’t seem to respect the power, but he’s still turning his back with a shoulder roll every now and then. In this case, that might not be a problem, since he’s probably up on the scorecards. Right hands from both men into yet another clinch. Garcia with a right and Haney ducks into the body of Garcia. Nice jab by Haney, but that’s not gonna do much with 40 seconds to go. Garcia showboating the rest of the round.

10-9 Haney, 113-111 Garcia
