Many will remember actress Julia Stiles gracing their screens in several popular teen films in the 1990s and 2000s. When she was just 17, Stiles starred in 10 Things I Hate About You with Heath Ledger. She then went on to star in Down To You (2000), Save the Last Dance (2001), Mona Lisa Smile (2003), and The Prince and Me (2004). After graduating from Columbia University with a degree in English Literature in 2005, Stiles continued acting. She starred in the Bourne movie series (2002, 2004, 2007, 2016), Hustlers (2019), and The God Committee (2021).

Aside from acting, Stiles has also had some significant developments in her personal life. In September 2017, she married Preston J. Cook, an actor and camera assistant. Then, in October 2017, Stiles gave birth to their first child, Strummer. More recently, in January 2022, the couple's second baby, Arlo, was born. 2022 is proving to be an exciting year for Julia Stiles as she not only became a mom of two, but her new show The Lake is coming to Amazon Prime.
9 Julia Stiles Is Starring In A New Comedy Series Called The Lake
The Lake is Prime Video's first scripted Amazon Original series set in Canada.The series tells the story of Justin as he tries to build a relationship with his daughter, Billie, who he gave up for adoption. However, trouble arises when he discovers that his step-sister, Maisy-May, now owns his family cottage.
8 Why Is The Lake Shot In Canada?
The Lake is set to shine a spotlight on Canadian cottage culture. It was filmed in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. Writer Julian Doucet said cottage living is "one of the iconic quintessential Canadian experiences that everyone has a different way into" and that "It felt like a very rich and fertile territory to explore."

7 Julia Stiles Is Starring Alongside Jordan Gavaris And Madison Shamoun
Jordan Gavaris is a Canadian actor who has already starred in the TV series Orphan Black.Madison Shamoun is an American actress who has starred in Black-ish and #BlackAF. Gavaris is playing Justin, Shamoun is set to play Billie, and Stiles will star as Maisy-May. Given that Stiles is an industry veteran, she was hopefully able to relay some helpful pieces of advice to her costars.
6 Who Else Is Starring In The Lake?
In addition to Stiles, Gavaris, and Shamoun, actors Terry Chen, Declan Whaley, Travis Nelson, Natalie Lisinka, Carolyn Scott, and Jon Dore will also be starring in the new comedy series. The Head of Canadian Originals at Amazon Studios Christina Wayne described The Lake as "a show that will push boundaries and celebrate broken characters trying to hold it all together against one of the most picturesque settings - cottage country."
5 What Have The Producers Said About The Lake?
The Lake was produced by Amaze Film + Television. Before filming began, executive producers Michael Souther and Teza Lawrence expressed that they were eager to begin working on this project, particularly for the diverse representation it would bring to screens. They explained that they were "proud to have Jordan in this central role that celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community in this series."

4 What Has Stiles Said About The Lake?
Stiles is also excited about the comedic aspects of this series. Stiles said, "What we kind of poke fun at in the show is the gossip and the insular nature of those groups." Though Stiles tends to star in drama films, Stiles' role in this comedy series is reminiscent of her roles in romantic comedies at the beginning of her career.

The Lake is not the only thing to look forward to on Amazon Prime this month. At the beginning of June, new seasons of The Boys, Fairfax, and Why Women Kill will become available. Romantic comedy My Fake Boyfriend will be available on June 12th. In addition to The Lake, Prime Video is also releasing the romantic drama series The Summer I Turned Pretty on June 17th.
